On Spotify
There's been a pretty significant debate in independent music spaces about Spotify and whether or not artists should use it. Unfortunately it is also the market leader and you do need to go where the audience is. My music is on Spotify but I do not promote it. I urge you to cancel it. Honestly, I'm a little confused as to why you haven't already: it is one of the most expensive options, it has the worst audio quality, it is killing independent music, it's actively attempting to kill democracy, the Spotify Wrapped isn't even any good and every other streamer has a wrapped program.
What gives? Is it your playlists? They can be easily transferred to any other streaming site. Plus you don't lose them if you keep a free account. Is it the algorithm? They're filling that full of fake AI generated music anyway, do you just vibe in elevators too?
I do not begrudge artists for sticking with Spotify and I do not begrudge artists for correctly telling them to pound sand. But for audiences? I don't understand what you're getting out of this. The water is fine with everyone else. Just make the move.
